Our Project is "Intarsia"

Our Project for the month of April was HEMS

Pat Haden finished one of her beginner projects.  The simple stockinet hat with a "hung hem".

Jackie brought a project back from Arizona.  It is a paisley design with stockinet bands and hem.

Another project that Jackie brought for Show-and-Tell was this cute jumper that has a fairlisle pattern in the hem or flowers.

Pam brought out several samples of garments with various hem embellishments.  From Left to right top:  Picot Hung Hem on the red vest, Knitter's Edge Knit Lace edging on white shell, crochet behind knitted work on the off-white cotton vest, and the garment under all the other shows the Lattice stitch which is created using both ribber and main bed of the machine.  The Lace Edging from the Knitter's Edge website was demonstrated.

Since Shirley was in Florida this winter, she hand knit this sweater with seed stitch detail on the hem, button band, and pocket flaps.  The good news is she did use "cone yarn".

Up Coming Meeting Dates, Places and Projects

June 17, 2004 - We have a change in location as well as project.  We will be meeting at the home of Shirley Reznik and our project has changed from 'zippers' to 'beading'.  Now if you want to make something that has both, you are more than welcome to do so.  But there was an interest in doing a project that incorporated 'beads'.  So let your imagination run wild and see what you can create.  Add them to the hem, or scatter them through out your project.  Have fun!

July 15, 2004 - Our meeting will be at the home of Jackie Neely.  Our project challenge will be 'cables'.  Cables come in all sizes and shapes.  Think about making a "Cable Sampler" project.

August 19, 2004 - We will be meeting in the home of Patricia Haden.  Fisherman's Rib is the technique that we will incorporate into our project of the month.  This does require a ribber.  If you don't have a ribber, just pick a technique that you haven't tried yet, and come and learn more about 'fisherman's rib'.

Enjoy your summer knitting - stay COOL!
