Weaving was our project of the month for January.  However, there were other projects completed for show-n-tell.

Linda Carney found this great vest pattern in a back issue of Machine Knitters Source.  She used Magic Color for her knitting yarn and Lion Brand Homespun for her weaving yarn.  The way the vest is joined at the sides and shoulders, it is reversible for two totally different looks.

LeaAnn is staying warm in her hand knitted and felted mittens.  They were very warm, just what we need here in Northern Indiana in January.

Pat Haden is pictured with her slippers made from Texas Chunky on the Artisan 70D.  This is a great starter project.  It allows you to learn lots of skills and techniques.  The end result is warm toes!  Great Job!

Pictured to the left is a Brown Boa.  The pattern can be found at this website.  This is a unique weaving project which uses the ribber bed to hold the loops while weaving.  The scarf pictured on the right, is made with a novelty yarn and an every-other-needle pattern.  This is an Artisan Project which is included with your Artisan 70D knitting machine.

Pam created dishcloths using Peaches & Cream as the weaving yarn and a finer crochet cotton as the knitting yarn.  In order to create a stable edge and bind off, both yarns were used to cast on and bind off.  The pattern was EON weaving over 40 stitches and knitted to 76 rows.  Fun, simple beginner knit-weaving project.

Linda Carney made and donated two more blankets for Hannah's house.  We will continue to collect and donate to this charity.

Thanks Linda!

March 18, 2004 - General Meeting at the home of Pam Schulz.  Project of the month will be "Pockets".  Try your "hand" at making a garment with a pocket or add a pocket to a project.  Be creative.  For those who are wondering, we should be moved in by March 18th.

April 15, 2004 - After you file your taxes come on over to Pam's for our General Meeting.  Try your hand at a NEW "Hem Technique".  There are several types of hems.  Check out your knitting books, patterns and magazines.  Try a new technique and report to the group if you like the results, was it easy or hard, what would you change.

May 20, 2004 - Our General Meeting will be at the home of Robin Linton.  The project of the month is "Intarsia".  Don't forget - there is a Jester Hat pattern on this website.  Intarsia is a great way to great "picture knitting" without floats.

Check out LeaAnn's website www.knittingtoday.com   She will be hosting the Camp Iwannaknit from June 4th to June 6th 2004.  That will be followed by Iwannaknit Retreat August 7th and 8th, 2004.  More information can be found on her website.

Her shop has also taken on a challenge to knit 200 hats for donation in October 2004.  So if you have some extra hats knitted up, bring them along to the meetings and we will be sure to get them to LeaAnn.
