July Meeting - Day Changed to Thursday

July 18, 2002 7:00 pm Indiana Time

The meeting will be held at the home of Mary Nordstrom.  RSVP to Mary by calling (616) 683-8181 or send her an e-mail at mary272@aol.com

Pam will be demonstrating "Filet Knitting" on the Standard Bed Machine using DAK to design the "Filet Lace".  No  DAK Lace Module is needed.

Project Linus & Christmas in July

The donated yarn made some very COLORFUL blankets to donate to "Project Linus".  Circular and color block afghans used up a good supply of the boxes of yarn - but there is still plenty of yarn to be knitted up into simple projects for Charity - Hats / Mittens / Scarves / Afghans

June Meeting

Jackie demonstrated how to make yarn from 'single knit fabric'.

Rosemary Radtke shared this technique at the Arizona Club that Jackie attends.

bullet

Cut single knit fabric tube into 1/4"  continuous strip

bullet

Wrap around a chair back and spray with water to set the yarn - you can also steam

bullet

Let the fabric dry

bullet

Wind and knit as normal

1 Yard of fabric should make a top.  You may want to purchase a little extra.
Knit loose - Knitted piece will shrink after steaming and washing.

Rosemary noted that her best swatch was on the bulky machine at tension 4.

Lots of afghans for Show-N-Tell.

                               Robin           Jackie 1          Jackie 2      Shirley B

bullet

Robin made her afghan using the Michael Becker book Instant Quilt Pattern Afghans

bullet

Jackie made her two Thread Lace Afghans from Charlene Shafer's Four Seasons Thread Lace Afghans

bullet

Shirley enjoyed making at least four of the double bed tuck afghans from one of the Machine Knitters Source Magazine.
