Our July project was 'Cables'
Jackie did a sampling of cables from Machine Knitting News June 1997. The article in the magazine offered a variety of cables. Jackie did most of the cables as shown her on her "Cable Sampler"
This was one of the first sweaters knitted by Pam. The yarn was Luster Sheen and the pattern was one from Linda Edison Smole's collection. The small cables run up the front of this short sleeve sweater for added detail.
This sweater vest has cable details in the front and back to give an illusion of darts, since they don't travel up the entire length of the garment.

September 10th, 11th & 12th - Smoking Needles will be hosting "Knit-In 2004". This is a hands on workshop where you work on what you want to work on. All Skill Levels are welcome. There will be demonstrations of Cut& Sew, DAK and video breaks. Contact Rachelle Moffett at (810) 234-3999 or go on-line to her website of www.smokingneedles.com The cost is $150 and includes lodging and meals.
September 16th will be our next General Meeting. We will be traveling to a NEW Knit Shop in Lakeville. Mary and Lisa Shafer have opened their shop "Knitting In The Round" as of July 17th. The are open on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They have gracious offered to extend their hours for your knit club meeting. They offer both hand and machine knit yarns. Needles for the hand knitters, books and patterns. The shop is in the lower level of their home at this time. It is located at 21900 Shively Road, Lakeville, IN 46536. Between Lapaz & Lakeville. The address will be www.knittingintheround.com Lets make this our Charity Collection Meeting. Bring hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, blankets, etc. for donation to local charities.
October 1 & 2, 2004 - Grand Rapids Area Machine Knitters will be hosting their 22nd Annual Great Lakes Area Seminar. This year they will be featuring a "Vest" Contest.
October 21st General Meeting - Location and Project to be announced.
November 12th and 13th The Knit Knack Shop will be hosting their fall "Open House"

New Item from Artisan - for those of you with the Artisan 70D Mid-gauge Machine the 7-prong adjustable tool is now available. They are $12 each. I have a limited supply, but if you would like to have a couple for easy transfer of stitches, let me know and I will place an order.
