Project of the Month: Cables
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Our June project was "Beading". Here are some pictures of the what was "beaded"
Jackie sat in on the Marcia Hauser "Little Bags for Little People (& big people too)" class at Spring Fling. She made these tiny little bags with yarn and beads.
Linda
Carney played with a project from the "Knitters Edge" Gold Site. This is a
beaded heart project using 'heart' shaped beads. This will make a cute
sweater for her granddaughters.
Pam
started a sweater using Peaches & Cream and a thin crochet thread on the Bulky
machine in a Thread Lace Pattern. The cast on was created by stringing the
beads onto the base yarn first then doing a crochet cast-on and looping
every-other-stitch down onto the ribber gate peg with a bead. This created
the popular "bead fringe" that we see in the stores.

I spent five (5) days in Baltimore and Annapolis, Maryland recently. If you ever have a chance to visit I hope you find it as unique and interesting as I did. I was there to attend the National Convention for Health Underwriters. It was a total surprise to be one of four (4) national recipients to receive the "Pacesetter Award" for our local chapter of Health Underwriters. I have been the Awards Chair for the past three years. Every year I compile a binder that supports the activities of our local chapter. This year I was recognized in front of my peers across the entire nation. This was truly and unexpected honor.
I learned how to eat real "CRAB" at a crab fest. Fred cannot believe that I really took the crab with mallet in hand and took it apart. Fresh Crab is really good!
We had a private tour of the Governor's Mansion and the State House in Annapolis. The State House is the oldest standing State House. It houses the Silver that is donated to any ship that is commissioned under the name of Maryland. The Silver collection was awesome. The House, Senate, and open stair case had Tiffany glass ceilings which were breathtaking.
Annapolis has several unique shops mixed with historic buildings. The harbor was beautiful and busy with all sizes of boats coming and going. The weather was in the low 80's with a gentle breeze. Couldn't ask for more.

Hope you are enjoying your summer. It just seems to be slipping away. It won't be long before the kids will be back in school. If you want to knit hats, scarves and mittens for the needy children, I can take the donation to a local charity for distribution.
Baby afghans are always needed at Hannah's House.
Happy Knitting!
