Our Project is "Hems"

Our March project was Pockets.

Shirley R knitted a sweater for her grandson with pockets.  Since there is a strong influence from NASA in his life, she duplicate stitched the Rocket Ships onto the pockets.  Using Red, White, and Blue yarn also makes this sweater very patriotic.  GREAT JOB Shirley!

Since the project for the month was pockets, Pam did a demonstration and showed how to knit a pocket and add it to your garment based on the book written by Laurel Judd.  The demonstration was a 'Basic Patch Pocket' from the book Knit A Pocket or Two - D'Vine D'Sign 1.  If your are looking for this book you can contact Laurel via email.  She is from New Zealand and has several other great books.

Yes you are right, there are NO Pockets here.  However, Robin didn't waste any time knitting up the sock yarn that she bought in February at LeaAnn's Shop "Knitting Today".  Robin was able to knit an adult pair of socks plus two smaller pairs for the grandkids.  They were made from the self-striping sock yarns that are very popular now.

Up Coming Meeting Dates, Places and Projects

April 15, 2004 - After you file your taxes come on over to Pam's for our General Meeting.  Try your hand at a NEW "Hem Technique".  There are several types of hems.  Check out your knitting books, patterns and magazines.  Try a new technique and report to the group if you like the results, was it easy or hard, what would you change.

May 20, 2004 - Our General Meeting will be at the home of Robin Linton.  The project of the month is "Intarsia".  Don't forget - there is a Jester Hat pattern on this website.  Intarsia is a great way to great "picture knitting" without floats.
