At the home of Linda Carney in LaGrange, Indiana.  Please RSVP by calling

There may be some confusion as to what is our 'project of the month'.  The correct answer is "Knit Weaving".  However, we had a discussion of 'pockets' in our November meeting.  So, what ever you decide to make and bring will be OK!

Car Pool arrangements need to be made with Pam by 9 p.m. on January 14th.  We will be leaving the Mishawaka Toll Road Exit at
6 p.m. on Thursday 1/15/2004

Plating was our November Project.  We had a variety of Show-N-Tell items, some of which were created using the "Plating" feeder.  For a close up of the pictured items, click on the picture.

Shirley Birkey models Pam's Plated Slippers.  The pattern can be found in the pattern section of this site.

Once again this year, Shirley Reznik is hard at work knitting gifts for her grandchildren.  Here she is showing off the hat her granddaughter requested.  Complete with ties so it won't fall off when she is snowboarding.

Another grandchild is into Lady Bugs.  Here is the front of a sweater Shirley is making that has isolated motif of Lady Bugs going up the front.  Detail is added with duplicate stitches.

This is an almost completed Navy Blue sweater with cable details.  Requested by another granddaughter, so she could wear it with her school uniform.

Pat Haden completed this white Tamm on her Bond Knitting Frame.  The pattern was found on the internet and shared with Pat, since she was looking for hat patterns for the Bond.

Shirley Birkey is checking out the two-color tuck stitch afghan made by Pam.  Knitting with two strands of 2/24 in both Taupe and Navy.  The pattern created a 'window pane plaid' look that is reversible.

Pat Haden completed her poncho on the Artisan 70D using Texas Chunky yarn.  GREAT JOB Pat!

Shirley Birkey created a baby blanket using one of Janet Pace's patterns.  The texture and pattern was created by using "tuck stitch plating".  Two colors of 2/24 were used.  Light blue and white.  Look close and you will see the train and the puffs of smoke.

Shirley Reznik checks out the edging that Linda Carney put on her Thread Lace Afghan.  This was a pattern from Charlene Shafer's book on Thread Lace.

Pam also worked with Janet Pace's plating pattern.  Using blue and white yarn, the tuck and plating technique the "Magic Carpet" pattern was created to make this baby blanket.

We made a Charity Donation to Hannah's House in December.  Hannah's House is a home in Mishawaka, Indiana that provides shelter and assistance to young women who choose to keep their unborn babies, but have little or no family support.  I was told that the home is at capacity with seven (7) young ladies.  They were expecting the first of five babies that are due to arrive just before Christmas.

We made a donation of six (6) baby blankets and one (1) sweater.  Since there is an ongoing need for baby items, we will continue to knit and make donations to Hannah's House.

Meeting Dates:

February 19, 2004 - LeaAnn McGregor has invited us to her shop "Knitting Today" in Wolcottville.  Project of the month will be "Buttonholes".  There will be a car pool from the Mishawaka Toll Road exit.  Contact Pam if you need a ride.

March 18, 2004 - General Meeting at the home of Pam Schulz.  Project of the month will be "Pockets".  Try your "hand" at making a garment with a pocket or add a pocket to a project.  Be creative.

April 15, 2004 - After you file your taxes come on over to Pam's for our General Meeting.  Try your hand at a NEW "Hem Technique".  There are several types of hems.  Check out your knitting books, patterns and magazines.  Try a new technique and report to the group if you like the results, was it easy or hard, what would you change.

May 20, 2004 - Our General Meeting will be at the home of Robin Linton.  The project of the month is "Intarsia".  Don't forget - there is a Jester Hat pattern on this website.  Intarsia is a great way to great "picture knitting" without floats.

Recipe Updates:
New recipes have been posted in the recipe section of this website.

Mikey Kohlheim has submitted her "Morning Glory Muffin" Recipe.  She brought these to the fall open house at the Knit Knack Shop - yes they are VERY GOOD!

Jackie gave me a recipe to post, but in the hustle and bustle it was mis-placed.  But now it has been found.  You will find the recipe for "Roosevelt Western Beans" (from the Roosevelt Lodge in Yellowstone).  Great for family gathering.
