Remember Shirley as she lost her sister on Friday November 9th.  She had been battling Alzheimer for some time.  Shirley accepts her passing as a blessing but the loss of a sister is still very difficult.

At our October meeting, Robin Linton demonstrated "Sponge Painting" on knits.
Using a common household sponge and fabric paint, she
created "snowmen".  She embellished the "sponge painted snowman" with a "1/2 Hat and scarf parts".  Buttons were added to the front and "stick arms" were hand embroidered onto the snowman.  Check out the picture below for a closer look.

                  Show and Tell

Shirley finished her purse made from cotton yarn.

Pam made one of the belts from the "Knitter's Edge" web site, and brought the fronts from her "Notre Dame" sweater.  If you are interested in the pattern design - contact Robin Linton rlknits@aol.com.  Get started on your sweater and join us in Grand Rapids to model as a group.

Robin finished her wool felted hat.  Several of us bought kits at the Fiber Festival in 1996.  Some of us are just slow starters when it means hand knitting vs. machine knitting.

Here is a closer look at Shirley Birkey's purse.

Several of us attending the Fall Open House at the Knit Knack Shop.  I sat in on all of Tricia Shafer's classes.  Picked up a couple of her new books.  One that I found interesting is her "Knitted Edgings".  One that was demonstrated was 'double sided lace'.  She showed how this lace edging could be used to join two pieces together and cover the join at the same time.

Tamm Yarn Sale now until December 11th.

Road trip to Cedar Falls Iowa to watch a football game was worth it when I found "Three Oaks Knits".  I had a chance to meet the owner Beckie Scheel and she helped me read and understand the 'hand knitting' instructions for the wool felted hat pattern that I too puchased at the fiber fest. She has both hand knitting and machine knitting yarns, supplies and patterns.

Of course yarn was purchased.  Some really soft fluffy good stuff to use on a pattern that Tricia should have up on the "Knitter's Edge" site soon.
